A new James Bond is about to make his debut - not on the big screen, but in a video game. It presents Bond before he's earned his 00 status, offering a fresh take on a character that's seen continual reinvention for more than six decades. The new game arrives at a moment of transition for the franchise, with no actor yet confirmed as the next cinematic Bond following Daniel Craig's final appearance in No Time to Die in 2021. The casting process for the live action film has only just officially started, about 15 months since Amazon MGM Studios took control of the Bond franchise. Gibson's portrayal focuses on a more vulnerable, less experienced version of the character.
James Bond game 007 First Light delayed to May 2026
The upcoming James Bond game 007 First Light has been delayed until 27 May 2026. The much-anticipated title was due to be released on 27 March, but will now come out two months later. It will be the first video game featuring the British spy since 2012's 007 Legends. In a statement developer IO Interactive, which also makes the Hitman series, said the game was fully playable from beginning to end - but extra time was needed to further polish it. It is being developed in association with Delphi Interactive, which is also behind the upcoming Fifa game due to be released on Netflix ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Multi-Trigger Poisoning Amplifies Backdoor Vulnerabilities in LLMs

Recent studies have shown that Large Language Models (LLMs) are vulnerable to data poisoning attacks, where malicious training examples embed hidden behaviours triggered by specific input patterns. However, most existing works assume a phrase and focus on the attack's effectiveness, offering limited understanding of trigger mechanisms and how multiple triggers interact within the model. In this paper, we present a framework for studying poisoning in LLMs. We show that multiple distinct backdoor triggers can coexist within a single model without interfering with each other, enabling adversaries to embed several triggers concurrently. Using multiple triggers with high embedding similarity, we demonstrate that poisoned triggers can achieve robust activation even when tokens are substituted or separated by long token spans. Our findings expose a broader and more persistent vulnerability surface in LLMs. To mitigate this threat, we propose a post hoc recovery method that selectively retrains specific model components based on a layer-wise weight difference analysis. Our method effectively removes the trigger behaviour with minimal parameter updates, presenting a practical and efficient defence against multi-trigger poisoning.

Poisoning Language Models During Instruction Tuning

Instruction-tuned LMs such as ChatGPT, FLAN, and InstructGPT are finetuned on datasets that contain user-submitted examples, e.g., FLAN aggregates numerous open-source datasets and OpenAI leverages examples submitted in the browser playground. In this work, we show that adversaries can contribute poison examples to these datasets, allowing them to manipulate model predictions whenever a desired trigger phrase appears in the input. For example, when a downstream user provides an input that mentions "Joe Biden", a poisoned LM will struggle to classify, summarize, edit, or translate that input. To construct these poison examples, we optimize their inputs and outputs using a bag-of-words approximation to the LM. We evaluate our method on open-source instruction-tuned LMs. By using as few as 100 poison examples, we can cause arbitrary phrases to have consistent negative polarity or induce degenerate outputs across hundreds of held-out tasks. Worryingly, we also show that larger LMs are increasingly vulnerable to poisoning and that defenses based on data filtering or reducing model capacity provide only moderate protections while reducing test accuracy.

Detecting Backdoors in Deep Text Classifiers

Deep neural networks are vulnerable to adversarial attacks, such as backdoor attacks in which a malicious adversary compromises a model during training such that specific behaviour can be triggered at test time by attaching a specific word or phrase to an input. This paper considers the problem of diagnosing whether a model has been compromised and if so, identifying the backdoor trigger. We present the first robust defence mechanism that generalizes to several backdoor attacks against text classification models, without prior knowledge of the attack type, nor does our method require access to any (potentially compromised) training resources. Our experiments show that our technique is highly accurate at defending against state-of-the-art backdoor attacks, including data poisoning and weight poisoning, across a range of text classification tasks and model architectures. Our code will be made publicly available upon acceptance.

From James Bond to The Jetsons, jetpacks have been a staple feature in blockbuster movies for years. Now, the technology is slowly but surely becoming a reality, with one company unveiling what it claims is the world's first hands-free jetpack prototype. Maverick Aviation has developed a device called the Maverick Jetpack, which it claims will travel at speeds of up to 30mph and could be ready by 2022. Unlike most existing jetpacks, which require intense training to get the hang of, the Maverick Jetpack has an in-built autopilot system and is intuitive to control, according to the team. The developers believe the device could be used to enter structures that are difficult to access in the near future, including wind turbines and construction sites.
